JUNIOR ESTIMATOR

  • Assisting the Chief Estimator and  purchaser
  • Reviewing proposal and project specifications by analyzing blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Preparation of full cost estimates.
  • Assessing cost effectiveness of products, projects and services and tracking actual costs relative to bids.
  • Consulting with clients, vendors, engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Preparing estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
  • Reviewing material and labor requirements,
  • Preparing cost and expenditure statements
  • Providing accurate final estimate packages.
  • Participating in presentations to corporate management and clients, while providing technical assistance in negotiating contracts and change orders.
  • Reports to the senior project manager, and indirectly reports engineer and other project management staff
  • Estimator designation / certification
  • Strong negotiation abilities with keen analytical ability
  • Time management and prioritization capabilities are key
  • Excellent oral, written communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills in MS Project, Filemaker database and the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Minimum of two years experience in construction / manufacturing based Estimating.
  • Experience in manufacturing and construction industries would be a strong asset.

CONSTRUCTION TEAM SUPERVISOR & LEAD HAND

  • Journeyman Carpenter designation / Certification
  • Valid Driver’s Licence, own vehicle due to no public transportation
  • Knowledge of all power and Pneumatic tools.
  • Time management and prioritization capabilities are key
  • Excellent oral, written communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
  • Read blueprints with good general construction knowledge of framing, exterior and interior finishes. 
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic and be available to work overtime when necessary on short notice. 
  • A positive attitude and an ability to work well with others is a definite asset when applying for this position.
  • Team Supervisor position: supervise, direct and lead construction/production work, coordinate the telecom build, read and interpret blueprints, supervise and direct admin duties and job costing on the project and supervise up to 6 employees within the production schedule. 
  •  This position requires some leadership experience working within Modus, while having a working knowledge of our product components and build cycle. 
  • Previous experience in people management and construction in a manufacturing environment would be an asset when applying for this position. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership and communication skills are necessary with some computer skills required. 
  • Individuals applying for these positions must be able to work independently, exhibit a strong work ethic and be available to work overtime when necessary on short notice.
  • Team Lead Hand position:  Reports to Team Supervisor, directs and assist team mates with the build construction, requiring a high level of skill with our build process, and an excellent understanding of blueprints and working within production schedule requirements.
  • Minimum of three - five years experience in Journeyman Carpenter function – construction / manufacturing based.

JOURNEYMAN WELDER (working Supervisor)

  • Knowledge of welding processes (F.C.A.W, S.M.A.W, G.M.A.W.),
  • Operate a band saw, Plasma & Oxy–Acetylene cutting process
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, Organize and order materials required
  • Supervise and mentor staff, Machine operators, Laborers, Tool box meetings
  • Manage Production Flow and have strong time management skills to drive welding team for success
  • WHIMIS &  Forklift certificates will be an asset when applying for this position
  • CWB Certification, Valid driver’s license required.
  • Assembly, Fabrication, Installation, Shop work
  • Steel-toed safety boots
  • Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years
  • Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English

 


 




ELECTRICAL CONTROLS SPECIALIST

  • High school degree or equivalent; related post secondary education or training highly desirable.
  • Certified Engineering Technologist or Certified Tech asset or related electrical experience an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
  • Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks and meet competing commitments.
  • Trouble shooting and ability to diagnose & repair control systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and own transportation and clean abstract.
  • Must be able to pass security check & be able to work overtime when required.
  • Assembly, Installation, Terminations & commissions of HVAC DDC control systems.
  • Able to create and interpret Electronic wiring diagrams and program HVAC controllers
  • General experience with various types of programmable Controllers.
  • Service and troubleshooting or other computer based I/O system such as lighting control.
  • First Aid, fall arrest, scissor lift and CSTS training and Reliable Controls programming Exp an asset.

FORKLIFT OPERATOR

  • High school degree or equivalent; related post secondary education or training highly desirable.
  • Minimum two years verifiable experiences in the safe operation of Forklifts and/or Zoom booms
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
  • Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks and meet competing commitments.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Ensure proper documented procedures are followed.
  • Maintain on-time, accurate picking of materials required for production.
  • Coordinate the movement of material and related paperwork in and out of Modus facilities.
  • Maintain on-time and accurate receiving of materials and distribution to the production floor.
  • Ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Help other departments as required.
  • Two years shipping and receiving or experience in a manufacturing/construction setting.
  • First Aid & forklift certificate an asset

STEEL MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR

  • Strong problem solving and time management skills.
  • The ability to adapt efficiently to the demands of changing priorities is essential.
  • Excellent people skills,with a proven ability to motivate and mentor team members is also required.
  • Shipping and receiving of materials and products.
  • Supervision of Material handling and identification.
  • Scheduling of production
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • The successful candidate must also work proactively within our company’s Quality Assurance and Safety standards.
  • Brake Operator and/or Roll Forming experience, forklift training and previous experience in a supervisory role are all considered assets. 

GENERAL LABOUR – STEEL MANUFACTURING

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
  • Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks and meet competing commitments.
  • Valid driver’s license and own transportation
  • Assist on shear
  • Material Handling – Tracking of materials and paperwork, loading trucks
  • Yard and other related duties
  • Metric & Standard measurement knowledge
  • Able to comply with safety and quality control standards
  • One year experience in a manufacturing/construction setting.
  • Knowledge of cold rolling mills an asset
  • First Aid and CSTS training an asset.
  • forklift/ Telehandler Certificate an asset.

GENERAL CONSTRUCTION LABOURER for panel prep

  • Required for Structural Insulated Panel Line Production
  • Assembly /Production Line experience considered an asset.
  • Skills Required; Exceptional listening, communication and direction skills, Lifting, Bending, material identification, load and unload materials, Physically fit, Forklift experience an asset
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work in a fast paced environment required. Will train the right candidates.

GENERAL CONSTRUCTION LABOURER

  • Strong construction experience required, knowledge of all power & pneumatic tools with the ability to work independently and assist a variety of construction crews while working in a fast paced environment
  • First Aid, Scissor lift & Forklift experience, cladding & floor systems knowledge an asset.
